The useful book
A useful book does not need to be complicated. It starts with one clear promise to the reader. What will that person know, understand or be able to do better after reading it? Write down that goal before arranging the chapters. This keeps pleasant examples, loose thoughts and repetition from taking over. Every chapter should add something and lead the reader calmly towards the next step.
Next, begin with a problem the reader recognises. Describe what goes wrong in everyday life and why it matters. Then offer one small solution that can be used straight away. A clear first step is more helpful than ten general tips. Use ordinary words, short examples and enough white space. The explanation will stay easy to follow, even for someone with little time or no previous knowledge of the subject.
The first draft does not need to be beautiful. Put the ideas in a logical order first, then decide whether each part has earned its place. Look for long detours, repeated explanations and sections that interest the writer more than the reader. Remove a paragraph when it does not help the reader move forward. Add a concrete example when an explanation still feels abstract. The book will become not only shorter, but more useful.
Finally, read a chapter aloud. You will quickly hear where sentences become too long or the tone changes suddenly. Ask someone from the intended audience to read a few pages as well. Do not ask only whether it is good. Ask where they had to read something twice, which step remained unclear and what felt useful straight away. Those answers make revision much more focused. Good formatting supports this work: it makes the structure visible, gives the text room and keeps attention on the content. The result feels carefully built and easy to follow, one step at a time.
Your print PDF uses black and white. The EPUB can retain colour accents, but the reading app also controls fonts, text size, margins and background.

Is my manuscript uploaded during the free check?
No. The free Word check and chapter preview run in your browser. We do not receive or save those files or text. After payment, you submit the complete manuscript securely so we can format it.
What does the free preview show?
It turns your chapter title and text fragment into a short layout sample. You can compare the typography, spacing and chapter opening in three styles.
Which books qualify for the €99 price?
The offer applies per book to an edited manuscript of up to 50,000 words with mostly text and a simple chapter structure. Contact us first for books with many images, tables or footnotes.
Do you work with publishers?
Yes. Email us with your expected number of titles, word counts and desired schedule. We agree on a suitable offer first. Existing subscriptions and credits keep their agreed terms.
Do you use AI to write or change my book?
No. We keep your text and use fixed templates and formatting rules. We do not generate, rewrite or add book content.
Can I upload the files to every store?
We validate every EPUB with EPUBCheck and inspect the print PDF. This reduces technical errors, but Kobo, Kindle and print services make their own final decision about acceptance.
